PAR®-Jury Tasting October 16th – 18th, 2020
Frasdorf, June 2020 – following a successful Spring Edition taken place in May 2020, WINE System AG opened the registration for the Autumn sequel of the 12th international organic wine award. The first-time split of the prestigious contest is a response to the continually increasing attendance contributing to quality assurance and user-friendliness. For safety reasons, and due to the uncertainty regarding pandemic development, the autumn tasting will also take place in the virtual room – a challenge that could be easily coped with last May thanks to the experience of the PAR® Certified Master Tasters and the established digital infrastructure. The competition is open to the organically certified white, red and rosé wines, as well as dessert, sweet, sparkling, pearl wines and specialities. Registration deadline is September 25th, 2020.
For the first time, the international organic wine award has been split into Spring and Autumn editions to provide the producers and their wines with more flexibility in terms of ageing and potential to evolve. Another reason is that the quality management of the PAR® system requires a consistently high time and human resources standards, and that does not get along with a too high number of participants very well. This measure makes sure that producers, retailer and consumers can expect the unprecedented spectrum of the international ranking., Also, they may further on count on the quality and objectivity of the results.
Another advantage brought by this step is an alternative opportunity in October for all those international winemakers who could not join the contest in May due to all logistic challenges caused by Coronavirus pandemic actions.
Like all competitions organised by WINE System AG, the Online Tasting *) Autumn 2020 will run according to the sensory audit system PAR® that is an abbreviation for Product – Analysis – Ranking. Thanks to the analytical and documentary approach, the dégustation team can approach the diversity of such competition in a sophisticated and objective way. Each submitted wine receives replicable and accurate documentation of its sensory and oenological characteristics, its origin, climate and style.
Besides attracting attention brought by this award, many producers appreciate the revealing analyses underlying the PAR assessment. They precisely show which criteria have led to matching results and provide valuable documentation for quality management.
